Program Information-Admissions points calculation updated December 2023

Southern Union State Community College now offers the ADN mobility option for the following: 
credentialed (licensed or certified) Paramedics, Radiologic Technologists, Surgical Technologists, Medical Assistant Technologists, Physical Therapist Assistants, as well as, LPNs who have graduated from a practical nursing program more than one year ago and/or in the old curriculum and/or from a practical nursing program outside of the Alabama Two-Year College System.  Qualified students must meet the admission requirements and apply to the College and to the program by the published deadline date. 

 *Please note:
LPNs who have graduated less than one year ago from an Alabama Two-Year College System practical nursing program and in the new curriculum can request a Nursing Transfer Application by emailing healthsciences@suscc.edu.  Click here for the Nursing transfer policy.

 

 For Spring Admission at the Opelika Campus - apply during the month of September.  Online applications will only be accepted during this time. Look for the application link in the box below.  

 

 In order to complete the ADN Mobility online application, you will need the following:

  • Your student A number.
  • Your highest ACT composite score report.  We do not accept Superscores for ranking purposes in the Health Sciences programs.
  •  Grades from previous coursework.
  •  Course descriptions if requesting consideration of transfer credits from a college outside  Alabama.
  • Proof of CNA course completion if not an LPN.
  • Current Licensure number/certification documentation
  • Proof of one year in field full time work experience on company letterhead and signed by an employment administrator.
  • Verify ACT scores/transcripts have been received by viewing your student portal at mysuscc.

 Once you submit your application, you will receive an email confirmation.  Applications will not be   accepted once the application window has closed. Applicants will be notified through SU email 4-6 weeks after the closing date.

ADN Program Accreditation:

The Associate Degree Nursing program at Southern Union State Community College located in Opelika, Alabama is accredited by the: Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), 3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30326, (404) 975-5000.  The most recent accreditation decision made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners for the Associate Degree Nursing program is continuing accreditation.  View the public information disclosed by the ACEN regarding this program at http://www.acenursing.us/accreditedprograms/programSearch.htm.  The Associate Degree Nursing program is approved by the Alabama State Board of Nursing.  

 

Degree Earned: Associate in Applied Science

Length of Program:  1 year (66 semester hours of coursework of which 20 semester hours of prerequisite course work are required for admission).
Credentials Earned: Registered Nurse following successfully passage of the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)
