Scholarships

Students may be able to obtain assistance in the form of scholarships granted on the basis of academic/technical achievement, participation in extracurricular and leadership activities, and exhibited talents of the fine arts.Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. An SUSCC application for admission, U.S. Citizenship, and completed scholarship application must be on file at the college before a scholarship can be awarded. Official transcripts must be submitted if an award is offered. 
The Scholarship Submission Portal typically opens December 1 and closes March 2 at 4:30 pm CST.

Community College Presidential Scholarship
  • Nomination Deadline: February 13, 2026
  • UA Application Materials Deadline: March 2, 2026
  • Scholarship Value: Full tuition for 4 semesters
  • Key Notes:
    • Students cannot apply directly—applications must come through SUSCC.
    • UA requests 2–3 nominees per campus, meaning Southern Union may nominate as many as nine students.
    • Minimum requirements include a 3.5 GPA and 45 transferable hours by end of Fall 2025.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCED FOR ALABAMA RESIDENTS INTERESTED IN COMMUNITY COLLEGE PROGRAMS RELATED TO AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING 

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) announce the availability of 30 scholarships for residents in Alabama who want to pursue a technical education certificate or associate degree in programs related to the automotive manufacturing industry.  

Funding is available to award a total of 30 $1,800 scholarships to students who are enrolled in a program at an Alabama community college that is associated with automotive manufacturing careers. Interested students with at least a 2.5 GPA can learn more information and apply directly through the website, dreamitdoitalabama.com/aama/. The deadline to apply is March 31. 

 Students who are awarded the scholarship may use the funds for their summer or fall 2022 tuition, books, and fees associated with the approved program of study.  A full submission for the scholarship requires the following: a completed application; a resume; a maximum 500-word essay on why the student wants to work in Alabama’s automotive industry; one signed reference letter; an unofficial college or high school transcript; and a headshot photo.   

Programs in which applicants can use the scholarship include the following: Automotive Manufacturing Technology; Automotive Manufacturing; Automotive Service Technician; Computer Numerical Control; Engineering Technology; Industrial Electronics Technology; Industrial Maintenance Technology; Injection Molding; Logistics; Machine Shop/Tool Technology; Manufacturing Technology; Mechanical Design Technology; Mechatronics; or Welding Technology. 

Scholarships are also available through the SUSCC Foundation.
