Nursing Overview

Thank you for your interest in the Nursing Program at Southern Union State Community College.

Students must apply and be accepted into the professional phase of the Nursing Program. Applicants to the Nursing Program must meet academic requirements and then apply for admission to the particular program no later than the published deadline.  Students are required to attend a Health Sciences Information Session prior to application to the program to familiarize prospective applicants with the admission criteria and acceptance process.  All students begin with LPN coursework and progress to ADN coursework.

The Nursing Program admits students each semester. Students are admitted for fall and spring semesters on the Opelika Campus. Students are admitted on the Wadley Campus for the summer semester.

The LPN to RN Mobility and Paramedic to RN Mobility students are admitted one time each year in the spring semester. The LPN to RN Mobility Track II students are admitted one time each year in the fall semester.

Nursing Assistant courses are held on either the Valley or Opelika Campus each semester as needed.
