Campus Police
The Southern Union State Community College Police Department exists to protect life and property, maintain a successful parking and traffic system, prevent crime, and be of general service to the campus community.

Oath of Office
All personnel, prior to assuming sworn status, will take and subsequently abide by an oath of office to enforce the laws of the State of Alabama, campus rules and regulations and all other federal, state and local laws and ordinances.  Also, sworn personnel will swear or affirm to uphold the constitution of the United States of America, and the Alabama Constitution.

Incident Report
Any member of the college community can file an Incident Report. Individuals should use this form to report Student Code of Conduct violations. Code of Conduct violations can include academic dishonety, drug and alcohol use, disorderly conduct, theft, threatened or actual physical violence, etc... Please complete the form with as much detail as possible to assist with efficient processing.

BisonCARE
The BisonCARE Team helps find solutions for students experiencing academic, social and crisis situations including mental health concerns. Members of the college community can report a concern for a student who might benefit from services. We review these reports to understand each student issue and the on- and off-campus resources that may guide them to success.

Mental Health & Wellness
Southern Union is taking significant steps to address the mental health needs of its student community. With the growing demand for mental health services, SUSCC offers support programs and provides students with additional resources.

Title IX
The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces, among other statutes, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive Federal financial assistance. Title IX states that:

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex – including pregnancy, parenting, and related conditions – in education programs and activities that receive federal funding.

Student Conduct Complaints
Southern Union State Community College promotes the open exchange of ideas among all members of the Southern Union State Community College community, students, faculty, staff, and administration. An environment conducive to the open exchange of ideas is essential for intellectual growth and positive change. Southern Union State Community College recognizes that in order to efficiently and effectively carry out its mission, its employees and students must feel confident that any valid complaint or grievance an employee or student may make concerning the College will be promptly addressed by the appropriate authorities.

Students may use this form to voice a formal complaint. Complaints can be regarding a college rule or policy, personnel, or situation. Please include as much detail as possible to assist with efficient complaint resolution.

Southern Union is excited to announce a partnership with Uwill, the leading student mental health and wellness platform. This collaboration provides our students and employees with free, immediate access to teletherapy, crisis support, and a comprehensive range of wellness programs, all through Uwill's user-friendly online platform.

Students should use this form file a Title IX complaint. Title IX violations refer to sex based violations, which can include sexual harassment, sexual assault, rape, stalking, dating and domestic violence, stalking and pregnancy discrimination.

Make a Bison Cares Referral

Any member of the college community can make a Bison Cares referral. Individuals should use this form to refer a member of the college community for support services. Services are communicated in the form of a list of referral sources to the individual, and can include assistance with food, clothing, toiletries, temporary housing and counseling. Please include as much information about the person being referred as possible.

Student Government Association
The Student Government Association at Southern Union State Community College exists to stimulate and develop school spirit, to encourage and maintain participation in school projects, to foster a spirit of cooperation among faculty, staff and the student body, and to recommend means by which the college may be improved.

Residential Life
Over-looking the campus lake, spectacular views of the picturesque campus are enjoyed from the rooms. The 230 bed facility features double occupancy, air-conditioned rooms each with a private bath. Amenities such as computer labs, study rooms, laundry rooms, and a first floor common area serve the residence hall community.

Bison Food Pantry
The mission of the SU food pantry is to distribute food and hygiene items and alleviate stress associated with short-term food insecurity to support educational success for our students.

Student Accommodations
Southern Union State Community College complies with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. Accessibility Services are available to those qualified students with disabilities who meet the technical and academic standards at Southern Union State Community College and who are entitled to reasonable accommodations. It is the student’s responsibility to request accommodations before needed and to provide appropriate documentation to the ADA Coordinator to receive support through Accessibility Services.
