Program Information

Note: All prerequisite academic courses in curriculum be completed prior to program start date.

Accreditation: The Surgical Technology Program has continuing accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, 9355 -113th St. N, #7709, Seminole, FL 33775. Degree Earned: Certificate in Surgical Technology or Associate in Applied Science in Surgical Technology
Length of Program: Certificate: Three semesters (36-49 semester hours) *This option is not available after Fall 2022 admission.
Associate in Applied Science: Five semesters (64-73 semester hours)
Note: Total program hours may vary with optional BIO 103 or BIO 111 (previously SUR107), 201 & 202 courses and/or additional SUR practicum courses.
Credentials Earned: Students who complete the Surgical Technology program are required to sit for the national certification exam. The exam will be given at Southern Union upon completion of the program.
