Technical Internship Program
The Southern Union State Community College (SUSCC) Technical Internship Program provides field-of-study-related work experience for students who are pursuing a degree and/or certificates in one of the SUSCC programs of study and establishes and strengthen the relationship between the Company and the College in order to ensure mutual reinforcement between college curricula and the world of work. The program is an educational opportunity based upon a cooperative arrangement by the College and employers to provide practical work experiences for students.
Program Objectives

To provide qualified SUSCC students with supervised, work-based learning experiences through on-the-job work related to their field of study before graduation.

To make available occupational experiences designed to assist interns in determining the professional fields for which they may be suited and identifying personal and professional areas of strength and opportunities for growth.

To provide a no-obligation recruiting line of talent to the Company.

To provide an avenue for the Company to express workforce needs and feedback regarding education and workforce alignment.
Prospective Interns
To be considered for participation in the internship program, an applicant must:
- Attend Southern Union State Community College and declare major in a technical program.
- Maintain an overall 3.0 GPA (minimum) in CTE core classes.
- Maintain an overall 2.75 GPA in all courses.
- Have completed at least one required Math Class with a grade of “C” or higher.
- Have completed at least one semester in an Advanced Manufacturing Program.
- Have an attendance record of 95% or higher.
- Continue in the Program and maintain a full schedule of classes.
- Be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Be eligible for employment in the United States.
- Adhere to company-specific personnel policies including those regarding time and attendance.
Meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee internship placement. Additional factors that influence placement include, but are not limited to, position availability and requirements, and the hiring company.
The following procedures will be followed in selecting internship participants.

The College representative will contact students who meet the eligibility requirements via SUSCC email to schedule an in-house interview.

As internship opportunities are received, a College representative will submit the approved intern's application packet for the Company to review.

Individual companies will make interview selections, interview, make employment selections, and provide job offers contingent upon individual company hiring practices, including drug screening results.

Companies and students will inform the College representative of internship offers and acceptance or rejection of offers.
