Orientation Courses


ORI 101 – Orientation to College

All new students who have not previously attended college are required to register for and complete Orientation to College (ORI 101) their first semester at Southern Union. Transfer students who have successfully completed at least 18 quarter hours or 12 semester hours with a 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) at a regionally accredited institution are exempt from Orientation to College.

Wadley Only:

A complete syllabus and list of requirement are available both within Canvas and will be distributed during the first class meeting.  ORI 101 students will be required to attend orientation sessions at the beginning of the semester.  The meeting dates are printed on the student's class schedule.  In addition to the meetings, students will also be required to complete tests within Canvas and meet with their assigned advisor to successfully complete ORI 101.  You may access Canvas directly here or by selecting the Canvas tab located within the yellow bar at the top of this page.  Instructions for logging into Canvas are on the Canvas login screen.  

Opelika and Valley Only:

A complete syllabus and list of requirement are available both within Canvas and in the Office of Student Development.  ORI 101 students will be able to log into CANVAS beginning on the first day of the semester.  Students will be required to complete a series of tests within Canvas and meet with their assigned advisor to successfully complete ORI 101.  Please note the tests deadlines are within the first two weeks of class.  You may access Canvas directly here or by selecting the Canvas tab located within the yellow bar at the top of this page.  Instructions for logging into Canvas are on the Canvas login screen.

 

Student Email:

All students will have a student email account available to them as soon as classes begin for the semester. To sign in to your Student email account, click on the "Student Email" link on the SUSCC homepage and read directions for getting started. You will receive email reminders and notices through this email account only.

IMPORTANT: You will not be able to login to CANVAS until tuition has been paid or your financial aid has cleared/paid.  Please note that your financial aid may take some time to process and until the process is completed, you will not be able to access Canvas.  You also cannot sign in until after classes begin for the semester. If you registered early and have trouble signing in to CANVAS after the semester has begun, contact support@suscc.edu.
