How To Order Tax Return Transcript

  1. Visit
  2. Select "Get Your Tax Record"
  3. Choose "Get Transcript Online" or "Get Transcript By Mail"
  4. Follow steps according to option chosen
  5. Select "Tax Return Transcript" for appropriate year

Professional Judgement (PJ)

When involuntary circumstances affect your federal financial aid resources, there may be an option available for income adjustments. Examples of involuntary circumstances may include loss of job, death of a parent/spouse, or excessive medical expenses.

*Please note, the submission of documents does not guarantee that your request will be approved or that you will be eligible for additional aid.

Use the PJ Advisor portal to expedite the financial aid professional judgement process. PJ Advisor is an
accessible, intuitive tool that will guide you through the process to request a professional judgement/appeal.

Please note the deadline for submitting a PJ is July 1st of each academic year.

What Happens Next?

Start your request by accessing PJ Advisor at
You (or a parent, spouse, or legal guardian) will need to do the following*:

  • Create a secure username and password.
  • Select your dependency status as reported on the FAFSA.
  • Answer the pre-screening questions and select your appeal category.
  • Explain your situation in detail, upload supporting documentation, and submit.
  • Print, sign, and upload the signature page.

Upon receipt of all required documents, Southern Union State Community College will conduct a preliminary review to ensure the submission is accurate and complete. You will be notified via email if there are any questions or if any additional documentation is required. Once the submission is verified as complete, the Financial Aid Office will review for final determination and contact you with the results.
