Other Part-Time Position Information
SERVESAFE FOOD MANAGER TRAINER
Applicants must hold a current Food Manager credential from an approved program. Experience in food service is preferred. The trainer will be responsible for providing 40 hours of instruction in the food service industry and preparing the students to pass the ServSafe Food Manager exam. The curriculum will cover food safety, personal hygiene, safe food preparation, receiving and storing food, food safety regulations, HCCP( Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), and more. CDL INSTRUCTOR W/HEAVY EQUIPMENT EXPERIENCE
Essential duties and responsibilities of a truck driving instructor include commitments to students in the classroom, the teaching discipline, students outside the classroom, to the College, and to the community. The instructional program includes, but is not limited to: Orientation and Safety; Learning Basic Operations; Practicing Safe Operations; Practicing Advanced Operations; Maintaining Vehicles; Practicing Non-Vehicle Operations; and Using Air Brakes. The instructor is subject to work at varied locations based on student and operational demand at any or all sites and locations served by the College. A High School Diploma, three years of Truck Driving Experience, Class “A” CDL License with current long form physical examination is required. Teaching experience is preferred. EVENING COORDINATOR - VALLEY CAMPUS
This position must work with faculty and students to assure smooth operation of the evening programs by performing the following duties: assisting students, faculty, and staff with advising, orientation, and support during the evening hours. Qualified applicants must hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Experience in secondary or post-secondary education is required. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in an English related field or 27 semester hours in English related coursework from a regionally accredited institution. The part-time Writing Coach will be responsible for providing individual and small group tutoring to students. The writing coach will assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills. TECHNICAL LAB ASSISTANT
Applicants must hold a high school diploma or GED and have documented in-field technical work experience with competency demonstrated through successful completion of an approved occupational examination or industry recognized credential. Workforce Development Division: Non-credit Electrical/Industrial Maintenance or Millwright adjunct instructor/trainer
Non-credit instructors must hold the minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent in the teaching discipline with three (3) years of successful full-time experience as a practitioner in the field (machining, maintenance, electrical, engineering, manufacturing maintenance, millwright, tool & die). READY TO WORK INSTRUCTOR
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree. Experience in teaching and/or training adults is preferred. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred. The instructor will directly supervise students in the Ready To Work program. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing student activities, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Pay rate: $19.47 per hour. Duties will include: maintaining student records in database; assisting with registration; maintaining filing system; and performing general office duties such as data entry, operating office machines, sorting mail, and answering phone calls/taking messages. Qualified applicants must hold the minimum of an associate’s degree and have one (1) year experience in secretarial and/or clerical work. Pay rate: minimum $11.78 per hour.
Duties will include: receiving students, visitors, and college personnel in a prompt and courteous manner; and answering phone calls/taking messages. Qualified applicants must hold the minimum of a high school diploma. Pay rate: $9.19 per hour.
SCIENCE LAB ASSISTANT
Duties will include: preparing the laboratory(ies) for scheduled labs to insure the availability of materials and supplies; maintaining files; operating general office equipment such as a computer, copier, fax, and calculator. Qualified applicants must hold the minimum of a high school diploma. Pay rate: $10.82 per hour.
RESIDENTIAL HALL ATTENDANT
Duties will include: inspect rooms, maintain records, and provide supervision for resident assistants. Must be willing to work weekends, evenings, and other non-standard hours. Qualified applicants must hold the minimum of a high school diploma. Daily rate varies by shift.
PERFORMING ARTS MASTER TRAINER
The primary task of the Master Trainer at Southern Union State Community College is to train students in activities designed to promote intellectual growth. Essential duties include: assist in planning and coordinating aspects of the Fine Arts instructional program on the Wadley Campus; assist Fine Arts faculty and staff in the achievement of objectives; assist with Fine Arts Department functions such as the annual Fine Arts Camp, Language and Fine Arts Tournament, and Performing Arts Scholarship auditions; and represent the Fine Arts Department to external groups. The person in this position must have demonstrated proficiency in the Performing Arts.
SHOT CLOCK OPERATOR/SCOREKEEPER/SPORTS ANNOUNCER
Duties will include: control a separate timing device with a horn that shall have a sound distinct and different from that of the game clock. An alternate timing device shall be available. The scorekeeper's primary responsibility is to accurately record a game's score. Each time a team scores one or more points, the scorekeeper must post the updated score on the scoreboard. Qualified applicants must hold the minimum of a high school diploma.
Duties will include: transport students, faculty and staff to special events, such as field trips or sporting events. Qualified applicants must hold commercial driver's licenses (CDL), with a passenger endorsement.
PART-TIME READY TO WORK RECRUITER/INSTRUCTOR
This position will promote the Ready to Work (ASCEND) program in order to increase student enrollment; coordinate recruitment activities with area non-profits and others; provide informational materials and services to prospective students and the community at large. Provide advisement during registration periods. Must adhere to a flexible work schedule. Rate of pay: $19.47 per hour.
