Thank you for visiting the Financial Aid webpage here at SUSCC. Whether you are a current or potential student, we are here to assist you with your financial aid needs. We are currently balancing the spread of COVID-19 while keeping financial aid resources available to all. As a result, our office requires face masks to enter for the health and safety of our students and our staff. We will be happy to assist you  in- person, by email, or by phone. Strict social distance guidelines will be enforced for all in-person visits. 

If you need to drop off documents, you may leave them in our secure drop box located near the entrance to our office or outside of the main entrance to the Administration Building. Due to privacy regulations, a student’s information is exclusively discussed with the student.  Students should regularly review “mySUSCC” and student e-mail for financial aid status updates and notifications.

Below are the steps to use the new mySUSCC web portal.

  1. New mySUSCC Web Portal (Banner)
    Click here to login to the new mySUSCC web portal
  2. The user name will be your NEW student ID (A ########). You must memorize your new student number and have it available when you visit any office on campus. 
  3. The PIN will be your six-digit date of birth; you will be prompted immediately to change your PIN (ex: MMDDYY) and to create a security question.
    Below are the steps to use the new mySUSCC web portal:
    **If you have completed all parts of the admissions process, click STUDENT TAB, STUDENT LANDING PAGE, and SSB9- ADMITTED STUDENT to check your status. If you have not completed the admissions application, move forward to set #4 listed below**
  4. SELECT Financial Aid tab or link: next
  5. SELECT and SUBMIT the award year
  6. SELECT the Student Requirements link
  7. You may submit your required documents by one of the following ways

Important Financial Dates for Fall 2021

If registering only for mini term courses, federal aid cannot be accessed until 10 days prior to the first day of the mini term.

The Pell Recalculation Dates (PRD) are established for each term of the academic year. The day after the published drop/add date is considered the PRD for the term. At that point, your award is based on how many credit hours you are currently enrolled in. If enrolled in multiple terms, the latest PRD is taken into account.

The Financial Aid Office offers information and services to assist in financing the cost of your education. Financial Aid Advisors are available to meet with you concerning your options. Financial assistance available through our office includes federal aid - grants, loans and work-study; as well as scholarship opportunities.  Southern Union State Community College does not participate in consortium agreements with other institutions; therefore, transient students would not qualify for federal student aid. "

A student must be accepted for admission to Southern Union before financial awards can be determined. The student’s financial aid file must be complete prior to early registration in order to insure no delays in receiving financial assistance for which the student is eligible.

Applicants for financial assistance must complete and submit the following:

  • A current application for admission to SUSCC
  • High School, GED and all previous college transcripts
  • Apply for the Free Application for Student Financial Aid (FAFSA). Students applying for Federal aid (PELL/ FSEOG/ Work Study) and/or state aid (ASAP) must renew their FAFSA each year.

Office hours are Fall and Spring semesters are 7:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 7:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. on Friday.
