Association of Radiologic Students |
The primary goal of The Association of Radiologic
Students is promote the progression of Radiologic Technology,
through the sharing of ideas and information. Through attendance
at regularly announced meetings and other continuing education
seminars, members have a means of defining their role as an integral
member of the health care team. Alpha Beta Gamma is a National
Honor Society honoring qualified radiography students, faculty,
diagnostic and therapeutic technologists, radiologists, and other
s who have made an outstanding contribution to the Radiologic
Sciences profession.

Campus Ministries |
The BCM is a student organization which seeks
to create a fellowship of students and provide for them experiences
of personal Christian growth and maturity. If further provides
opportunities for Christian ministry on campus and in the students'
home communities. Sponsored by the State Baptist Student Union,
students of any denomination are invited to participate.

| Gospel
Choir |
The Southern Union Gospel Choir members, known
as "The Sounds of Joy", use their musical talents (voice
and instrumental) to inspire and positively motivate others through
gospel music. This group is inter-denominational and welcomes
all singers and/or musicians. The Gospel Choir performs on campus
and in; the surrounding campus communities throughout the year.

Leadership Movement |
A chapter of the 21st Century Leadership Movement,
based in Selma, was established at Southern Union 1997. The purpose
of the organization is to enhance the development of young community
focused leaders who have the vision and collective power to improve
the quality of life for all people in the 21st century.

K |
Circle K, organized in 1958, is the college organization
of Kiwanis International.
It is sponsored by the Wadley Kiwanis Club, and membership is
open to both male and female students who desire to participate
in public service. The club is service oriented and sponsors projects
aimed at improving the quality of life; e.e., disadvantaged youth,
pollution, the communication gap, and racial understanding.

Team |
A group organized for the promotion of academic
excellence, this group competes in statewide competition with
teams from other two-year colleges and assists with the organization
and promotion of high school scholars' teams. Admission to the
group is by faculty selection based on grade point average.

Environmental Organization of Students |
The Global Environmental Organization of Students
(GEOS) was organized in 1993 to promote interest in and awareness
of environmental science and environmental technology issues in
local, state, national, and international communities. Activities
include field trips, fund raisers, guest speakers, and active
communication among members.

Council |
This board consists of presidents of clubs and
organizations and editor of The Southerner. The ICB seeks to provide
communication and promote cooperation among all clubs and activities.
The goal is to strengthen all organizations. The president of
the SGA serves president of the Interclub Council.

Club |
The Letterman's Club was organized in 1957, and
students who have earned a letter in one and more sports are eligible
for membership. The purpose of the club is to promote character
and leadership both in and out of athletics.

The Southern Union Music Club is an organization
that promotes fraternalism among the vocal and instrumental students.
The club also promotes and helps plan and organize music performances.
Membership is open to all students who are enrolled in a performance
course at Southern Union State Community College.

Student Nurses' Association |
The NSNA is
the only national organization for students of nursing. The purpose
of NSNA is to assume responsibility for contributing to nursing
education in order to provide for the highest quality health care;
to provide programs representative of fundamental and current
professional interests and concerns; and to aid in the development
of the whole person, his/her professional role, and his/her responsibility
for health care of people in all walks of life. The categories
of NSNA membership are Active Membership and Associate Membership.

Lambda |
The purpose of Phi Beta Lambda is to provide opportunities
for students to develop vocational competencies for business and
office occupations or business teacher education. Designed to
promote a sense of civic and personal responsibility, PBL membership
is open to all students who are students who are studying some
area of business or office management at Southern Union State
Community College.

Phi Theta Kappa
|
Phi Theta Kappa
is an international organization for recognizing academic achievement
in two-year Colleges. The Iota Iota chapter at Southern Union
was chartered in April 1957. It has a rich tradition of excellence,
including regional and national honors. This honorary concentrates
on the hallmarks of leadership, fellowship, and service, as well
as scholarship.
Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is extended by
invitation only. To be eligible, a student must have an overall
GPA of 3.25 or higher and must have made the Dean's List (3.5
or higher) on a full load (12 hours or more), and be enrolled
during the semester invitations are issued. Members must maintain
an overall GPA of 3.25 or higher.
Phi Theta Kappa members are recognized for their academic excellence
at graduation by wearing gold stoles. Membership is noted on each
student's transcript, and each member's diploma will carry the
Phi Theta Kappa seal.

Union Players |
The Southern Union Players was formed to promote
interest in the dramatic arts and is open to all students. Field
trips to area theaters and participation in Homecoming Activities
and other special events are activities of the Southern Union
Players.
