Molly Easter of Woodland was crowned Miss Southern Union during the college's annual pageant held January 31, 2008.  Easter will now go on to compete in the Miss Alabama Pageant which will be held in Birmingham in June.

In addition to each of the judged categories, contestants are required to select a platform, choosing a topic in which they are currently involved or about which they feel strongly, such as a form of community service. The contestants responded to questions on the topic during the private interview portion of the competition.  Easter's platform, "Saving our Future, One Child at a Time", gives her the opportunity to promote the importance of mentoring children.

Easter is a 2007 graduate of Woodland High School and she is attending Southern Union on a performing arts scholarship, where she is a member of the acclaimed Southern Union show choir.  She also serves as a Southern Union Ambassador, the official college hosts and hostesses.  She plans to pursue a degree in early childhood education.
