Message from the Dean
Thank you for your interest in programs offered through
the Health Sciences Division of Southern Union State Community College!
Since Southern Union began offering health care programs in 1975, our
graduates have numbered nearly 1,500 from the ADN program (with 200
of those completing the PN to ADN mobility option), 500 from the PN
program, 250 from the Radiography program, and 1,800 from the EMS program
(1,250 at the Basic level, 400 at the Intermediate level, and 150 at
the Paramedic level). Due to our graduates' reputation for quality education
and excellent job-related performance, employees actively recruit them.
For students to gain and/or maintain a healthy life
style, physical education courses are offered through the Health Sciences
Division.
Southern Union's health care programs lead to immediate
employment in exciting health care careers. General education courses
transfer to four-year colleges and universities, and in some programs,
professional courses will apply towards the baccalaureate degree.
Education in any of the health care fields is demanding,
but a career in health care is quite rewarding. We have information
packets available which explain the admission and progression requirements
and the course work that is required; academic advisors are available
to review information with you. If you are interested in any of our
programs, please let us know. You can call and ask for information,
download information from this web site, and come by and talk with us
at your convenience.
