(Fire Science Technician)

Certificate: 
This certificate program is designed for individuals who are already employed as fire fighters or individuals who are seeking employment in the fire science field. The fire science technician works in fire stations or industry safety. The fire science technician handles hazardous materials, surveys loss of property and life by fire, implements basic fire fighting tactics, assesses problems and hazards to fire personnel when a building is attacked by fire, and determines fire cause as well as investigates arson. The fire science technician may also supervise the fire department organization and oversee quantity and quality control.

Enrollment in the Fire Science Technician course requires:

1. unconditional admission to the college.
2. age of 18 years or older.
3. documentation of high school graduation or GED.
4. eligibility for English 131 and Math 116 and satisfaction of the College reading requirement.
