M.A. University of Alabama

The Language Arts Department offers the traditional freshman English and sophomore literature courses, as well as courses in speech, Spanish, and the humanities. These courses satisfy Southern Union graduation requirements, and they transfer to four year colleges and universities. The department also offers developmental courses in reading and writing for students who need additional instruction before they are ready for college-level work.

The faculty in the Language Arts Department are highly qualified professionals who are dedicated to providing effective instruction and assistance to students. Faculty are available and accessible to students.

The Language and Fine Arts Departments sponsor a tournament each year which provides opportunities for juniors and seniors in area high schools to perform and compete in nine areas of competition: composition, cultural literacy, literature, extemporaneous speaking, poetry, art, theater, music, and dance.

If you have any questions about courses or requirements in the Language Arts Department, please contact Lee Ammons.
